Understand where you are
Start with what’s actually happening in your finances and what matters to you.
If you’re doing okay financially but aren’t sure how to get from where you are to where you want to be, personalized coaching can help you figure out what matters, what to prioritize, and what to do next.
David Burton · Financial Coach
My wife and I weren’t always on the same page when it came to managing money. I had built a detailed spreadsheet, tracked everything, and genuinely enjoyed digging into the numbers. For me, it worked. For her, it was overwhelming.
We eventually worked with a financial coach who helped us simplify what we were doing. My wife wasn’t overwhelmed by all the information anymore, and I discovered that I didn’t actually need all of that complexity either. We found a simpler way to manage and track our money that worked better for both of us.
That experience changed the way I thought about personal finance. A good financial plan isn’t just about finding the “right” system on paper. It has to work for the actual people using it.
I’ve always enjoyed working with numbers, solving problems, and finding ways to make things more efficient. I also genuinely enjoy teaching and helping people develop new skills. Financial coaching brought those things together in a way I hadn’t realized was possible.
Today, that’s a big part of how I approach coaching: understand how you think, what matters to you, and what you’re trying to accomplish—then help you build an approach that actually works for your life.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before talking with a financial coach. That’s kind of the point.
Enough structure to help you move forward—without pretending everyone needs the same financial formula.

“One very helpful thing I was able to take away from David is that I can spend money on things I want and that managing that process is not meant to impede me or shame my values. I am empowered to allocate money where I find it useful, which is what I needed.”
“A lot of the anxiety around money has gone away. I feel like I have a better handle on our finances and am much more prepared for the future. Finances no longer feel like such a scary, complicated task.”
